Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Judicial Officers’ Association (UJOA) successfully concluded its Annual General Meeting and elections on Saturday, 16 May 2026, at the Supreme Court Conference Hall in Kampala. The event, held under the theme “Professional Excellence, Unity and Compassion,” marked a significant milestone for the Association with the election of a new Executive Committee.
Principal Judge, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, who represented the Chief Justice and Patron of UJOA, Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija, urged judicial officers to uphold excellence, unity, and compassion in their service. She congratulated the newly elected leadership and emphasized the critical role of the magistracy and registry as the backbone of the Judiciary.
The Newly Elected UJOA Executive Committee is as follows:
- President: HW Daphne Ayebare (the second female President of UJOA)
- Vice President: HW Conrad Obol Oroya
- General Secretary: HW Mallen Obizu
- Deputy General Secretary: HW Wellbourne
- Treasurer: HW Christine Turibamwe
- Assistant Treasurer (Deputy Treasurer): HW Kyembe Karim
- Publicity Secretary: HW Lillian Mazimwe
- Vice Publicity Secretary: HW Abubaker Matanda
- Representative for Persons with Disabilities: HW Edith Tusabe
HW Kyembe Karim, who was elected by a landslide as Assistant Treasurer, expressed deep gratitude to the members of UJOA for the trust placed in him. He pledged to serve with humility, dedication, and integrity, working closely with the Treasurer and the entire executive to strengthen the Association’s financial management, promote member welfare, and advance the goals of professional excellence across the Judiciary.
The Electoral Commission, chaired by Justice Vincent Mugabo, formally declared the new leadership. The meeting also featured representatives from various levels of the Judiciary, including Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke (Judicial Service Commission Ex-official), and other court-level representatives.
Outgoing President, Lady Justice Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya, highlighted key achievements during her tenure, including initiatives under the pillars of Professional Excellence, Unity, and Compassion. The new leadership is expected to build on these foundations while addressing ongoing welfare and professional development needs of judicial officers.
This election reinforces UJOA’s commitment to strong, united, and effective representation for all judicial officers in Uganda.
