His Worship Kyembe Karim, Magistrate at the Chief Magistrate’s Court of Pallisa, joined a delegation of the International Association of Women Judges – Uganda Chapter (IAWJ-UC) on a courtesy visit to the Uganda High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria, on 26th August 2026.
The delegation, led by the President of IAWJ-UC, Hon. Lady Justice Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya, and comprising Her Worship Kebirungi Joy alongside His Worship Kyembe Karim, was received by Ambassador Phillip Odida, Ag. High Commissioner of Uganda to Nigeria, and members of his team.
The visit followed up on the IAWJ African Regional Conference held in Abuja from 8th to 12th June 2026, hosted by the National Association of Women Judges Nigeria (NAWJN) at the Body of Benchers Complex under the theme “Promoting Excellence in the Administration of Justice.” Ugandan judicial officers had been prevented from attending the conference in person due to health precautionary travel advisories issued following the Ebola outbreak, and delegate packages intended for them had since remained at the High Commission.
During the courtesy call, the delegation collected the outstanding conference packages on behalf of the Association. Hon. Lady Justice Mukwaya also briefed Ambassador Odida on IAWJ-UC’s ongoing programmes and future plans, highlighting potential areas of collaboration between the Chapter and Uganda’s diplomatic mission in Nigeria to strengthen the country’s participation in regional and international judicial engagements.
Ambassador Odida and his team welcomed the delegation warmly, commending IAWJ-UC’s work in promoting excellence within the justice sector and reaffirming the High Commission’s commitment to supporting the Association’s future engagements abroad. The visit closed on a note of shared goodwill, with both sides looking forward to deeper collaboration.
Speaking after the visit, His Worship Kyembe Karim described the engagement as “a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties between Uganda’s judicial community and its diplomatic missions abroad,” noting the warmth and professionalism of the High Commission staff throughout the visit.
